Q&A
Q: We are playing the 2-Player Into Map 3 and the Kraken is supposed to move at the end of our turn rotation-meaning it gets a turn after everyone else. The kraken can only live in deep water. Ring surrounded by islands, does that mean he cannot move and we have to beat it with a catapult to move it, or does it just jump the island and rocky shallows to deep water?
A: You are correct that it is trapped in that map and must be defeated with a catapult. It is a unique feature of that map.
Q: If the Kraken is already adjacent to the lowest value ship, how does it get closer at the end of a turn?
A: If the Kraken is already adjacent to the lowest value ship then it doesn’t need to move and will wait to attack at the beginning of that player’s turn.
Q: If the closest low value ship is 2 shallow tiles away from the Kraken, which is in deep water adjacent to the shallow water (as close as it can get) where is the Kraken moved to at the end of a turn?
A: Since the Kraken can’t move through shallow water, it will go to the next ship that is easiest to reach. For instance, if it takes 4 tiles to get to the ship on the other side of the shallows, it will instead choose to go to a ship that is directly 3 tiles away even if it is higher value.
Q: What does "line of sight" mean in reference to shooting a ship from across an island?
A: Line of Site: if the island is fully blocking the view between ships then you can’t attack across it, but if it is only partially blocking the view then you can’t attack across attack. Basically you can’t attack directly across the island.
